Doing our part to keep Texas ‘bursting’ with independent books

I was thrilled to see Stoney Creek Publishing mentioned in the latest issue of Texas Monthly. A sidebar on Texas’ publishing legacy includes us among the “dozens of outfits producing great books in Texas.”

Although I’m a contributor to the magazine, I had no idea this was coming, so it was a treat to be flipping though the pages of the latest issue and see Stoney Creek’s name. I was also surprised by the description:

. . . Wimberley-based Stoney Creek Publishing has put out a dozen books, ranging from a look at illegal immigration and the construction trades to a debut romance novel from an 85-year-old woman.

Has it really been a dozen? It turns out it has if you count our 2024 spring releases. It’s hard to believe in less than four years, we’ve managed to put out a dozen titles. And we’ve got several more lined up for Fall 2024 and beyond.

I’ve learned a lot in the past four years, namely that publishing is a difficult, complex and perilous business. But it’s also been a lot of fun, and can’t help but feel that we’re just getting started.
